As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread globally, many countries have implemented travel restrictions in an attempt to contain the virus. Canada is one of these countries, and has implemented a series of travel restrictions that have been gradually tightening since March 2020. At this time, it is not clear when these restrictions will be lifted.
At this time, the Canadian government has not announced plans to lift travel restrictions.
Is Canada removing COVID restrictions?
The United States has not reciprocated the Government of Canada’s decision to end all COVID-related travel restrictions as of October 1, 2022. This means that Americans are still not able to travel to Canada without facing potential quarantine measures. The Canadian government is urging the United States to follow their lead in reopening borders, but it remains to be seen if the US will do so.
Foreign nationals who are fully vaccinated are now permitted to travel to Canada. They must submit proof of their vaccination status via ArriveCAN before departing for Canada. Those who are fully vaccinated will not need written authorization from IRCC.
Has Canada opened its borders to us citizens yet
If you are planning to travel to the United States from Canada, you will need to have a valid passport. You may also be able to use a passport card or a NEXUS card. If your stay in the United States is less than 180 days, you will not need a visa. However, there are still some COVID-related protocols in place for entry into the United States until October 2022.
As of October 1, 2022, proof of COVID-19 vaccination will not be required for travelers entering Canada, with the exception of those arriving from the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, and Macao.
Can I travel to the US from Canada if I’m fully vaccinated?
Starting in January 2022, all inbound travelers seeking to enter the United States via land ports of entry or ferry terminals – whether for essential or non-essential reasons – must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide related proof of vaccination. This requirement will help protect the health and safety of Americans by ensuring that individuals entering the country are not carrying the virus.
If you are travelling from any country other than the US, you should be prepared to take an arrival test and quarantine at a suitable place until you receive a negative Day 1 test result.
What are the requirements to enter Canada from the US?
As of April 19, 2021, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required for travellers entering Canada. Pre-board testing is not required, except for travellers arriving from the United Kingdom, South Africa, or Brazil, who must take a COVID-19 pre-entry test. Quarantine after you enter Canada is not required. Using ArriveCAN is not required, but recommended.
All international travellers should carry acceptable identification and a valid visa (if necessary) when entering Canada. A passport is recommended because it is the only reliable and universally-accepted travel and identification document for the purpose of international travel. Carrying other forms of identification, such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, or national ID card, is also recommended in case you lose your passport or it is stolen.
Can you fly unvaccinated in Canada
As of April 19, all travellers who are symptomatic of COVID-19, regardless of citizenship or vaccination status, will not be allowed to fly into Canada. The Canadian COVID-19 proof of vaccination is a reliable way for Canadians to show their COVID-19 vaccination history when they travel. This document will be available to all Canadians who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Do I need PCR test to enter US?
The requirement to present a negative COVID-19 viral test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 applies to air travel to US territories. US territories include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
All non-immigrant, non-US citizen air travelers to the United States are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States.
Can a US citizen travel to Canada
As an American citizen, you do not need a Canadian passport, a Canadian visa or an eTA to enter Canada. However, you must carry proper identification and meet the basic requirements to enter Canada. If you are travelling with a valid US passport, you will be able to enter Canada without any problems.
When travelling to another country, make sure to check their requirements for entry regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Some countries may require that you have completed your vaccine course at least 14 days before arriving, as well as provide evidence of a booster dose depending on when you last had the vaccine. This is to ensure the safety of their citizens and to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Do you have to be vaccinated to fly to Hawaii?
